Update on Push Notifications: What’s Next?

The digital advertising landscape is evolving rapidly, and at Clickadu, we remain committed to adapting to emerging trends while providing top-tier solutions for our advertisers. As part of this ongoing evolution, we are officially retiring the traditional Push Notifications ad format. This decision aligns with shifts in the digital advertising market, allowing us to focus on delivering the most effective and high-performing ad formats.

Why Are Push Notifications Being Retired?

Over the past few months, Push Notifications traffic has experienced a notable decline. Once a popular and fast-growing format, recent performance data shows a steady decrease in traffic volumes. Additionally, advertisers running Push Notification campaigns have already received a significant portion of their traffic from In-Page Push and Banner ads. Currently, most push traffic is being sourced from these alternative formats. Given this transition, we have decided to fully retire traditional Push Notifications.

What Does This Mean for Advertisers?

For advertisers currently running campaigns or planning future promotions, this change will have minimal impact. Here’s why:

  • In-Page Push Traffic Remains Available – Unlike traditional push notifications, In-Page Push delivers native-like notifications on publisher websites without interrupting the user experience.
  • Cross-Format Advertising Continues – You can still access high-quality traffic from Banner Spots, offering conversion rates comparable to traditional Push Notifications.
  • No Immediate Action Required – If you were already purchasing push traffic, you are likely receiving In-Page Push and Banner traffic seamlessly. Your campaigns will continue running smoothly without disruption, except for those specifically configured to receive only Push Notifications traffic.

What Does This Mean for Publishers?

For publishers, the transition away from traditional push notifications opens new opportunities to maximize earnings while maintaining user engagement. Here’s what you need to know:

  • In-Page Push Monetization ContinuesInPage Push ads provide publishers with an extra monetization option. They are simple to integrate and can work alongside other ad formats without competing for revenue, helping to maximize earnings from the same traffic.
  • Leverage Anti-Adblock Technology – Increase ad impressions without compromising user experience by utilizing Anti-Adblock technology, now available for InPage Push. This feature helps recover lost revenue by bypassing ad blockers while maintaining a non-intrusive ad experience.
  • No Technical Adjustments Required – New Push Notification zones can no longer be created for websites starting February 27th. Existing Push Notification zones will be deactivated and archived by March 20th. Publishers are encouraged to transition to In-Page Push to ensure continued monetization without disruption.

The Advantages of In-Page Push Traffic

While traditional push notifications required user opt-ins and were subject to browser restrictions, In-Page Push offers several key benefits:

Wider Reach – Appears directly within webpages, bypassing browser-imposed restrictions.

Higher Engagement – Ads are displayed to users who are actively browsing, enhancing conversion potential.

Seamless Integration – Functions across both desktop and mobile devices without requiring additional user permissions.

What’s Next?

Starting February 27th, new Push Notifications-only campaigns will no longer be available, and new Push Notifications zones cannot be created. By March 20th, all remaining Push Notifications-only campaigns will no longer receive traffic, and all existing Push Notifications zones will be deactivated and archived. The Push Notification format will be fully replaced with In-Page Push to ensure continued campaign efficiency and performance.

We appreciate your support as we continue to optimize our advertising ecosystem. Stay tuned for further updates, and feel free to reach out to our team with any questions!
